Research focuses on student career pathways with a focus on engineering careers. Specialization involves students who are (potential) first generation college, from low SES backgrounds, or from rural communities.
Research questions of interest include:
What contextual factors influence their choices? What motivates students as they consider career choices? How do economic and cultural factors play a role? What pathways exist for students and how do they learn about them?
Research also includes conceptual understanding of engineering principles and student motivations to learn engineering.
We are available for proposal writing, research, or evaluation. We are also available during a project start-up to work with new educators to set up the project for success through detailed planning and risk assessment.
